South Heidelberg Township was awarded a DCNR Grant to complete a Parks, Recreation and Open Space Study and Plan. The project began in May of this year (2023) and has been progressing with the next stage involving the selection of a firm to conduct the study and plan based on Request for Proposals (RFPs) that have been gathered and reviewed.
The Board and Study Committee will receive in person presentations from the two firms selected as finalists. Those presentations will occur at the Board of Supervisors Workshop Meeting held on September 19th @ 9:00AM. A firm will then be selected and the actual work will begin in the October 2023 timeframe with a final plan presented and approved by June 2023.
Citizens will have an opportunity to be involved in this process as there will be various forms of public participation such as meetings, surveys, etc. This will provide YOU, citizens of South Heidelberg direct input into what you'd like to see from parks and recreation in our Township and that feedback will help shape the final plan and projects following completion of the study and plan.
As the Township moves ahead there will be further communication to citizens on how you can get involved in this study to revitalize our parks and recreation to provide citizens with great areas to enjoy. Attached to this post is a timeline to provide citizens with the full scope and path.
Our thanks again to PA State Rep. Barry Jozwiak, Senator Chris Gebhard and Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources for helping the Township obtain this grant and work through the process of improving our parks, recreation and open space areas!
