August Spotlight - Alan Moyer

Alan Moyer

For August, the Spotlight is on Alan Moyer.  Alan is a long time resident of the Conrad Weiser School District.  He was born and raised in Robesonia and has lived in South Heidelberg Township for the past 15 years with his wife Jennifer and three children, Macy, Brady and Erik.  Alan is also the Head Football Coach for Conrad Weiser and has been involved with Conrad Weiser as a coach since 1989, becoming the Head Coach in 2003.

Coach Moyer on his Coaching Career

I was passionate about Coaching right from the start and I continue that passion today. I am fortunate to be surrounded by a dedicated staff and supportive family.

Coach Moyer on his Family and Football

The “Friday Night Lights” have been a part of our family for many years. My parents, Paul and Ruth Ann, have only missed three games since the 1980’s!!! My wife has been supportive since the beginning and our entire family has been involved in the program throughout the years. My daughter cheered for four years and my sons grew up on the sidelines. My brother, Mark, has been an assistant for the past 18 years and is an integral part of our success.

Coach Moyer on the CW Community

My favorite thing about the CW Community is the people and the small town atmosphere. The awesome residents I’ve had the chance to meet over the years are incredible. I would describe so many of the people as “they would give you the shirt off their back”. This community, and those I surround myself with are kind, considerate, loving, and open to beginning new relationships.

Coach Moyer on the COVID & the Upcoming Season

One question that I am answering on a daily basis is my thoughts on the impact the pandemic has had on CW Football and our Student Athletes. I have been optimistic since March with all of my players and my Staff. We continued to press forward with off-season Zoom meetings and constantly reminding everyone that we will persevere and will be playing this Fall. Our workouts began in July and we have been very happy with the work the players and Coaching Staff have put in thus far. We continue to operate under strict guidelines and all the players have been doing a great job staying safe and we hope to have a successful 2020 CW Football Season.

Coach Moyer has helped shape the lives of so many student athletes at Conrad Weiser over the course of his 30+ years as Teacher and Coach.  The Township is grateful to have such a great leader and mentor in our community and school!  It’s an honor to Spotlight Coach Moyer for August!
